For many years I have been interested in the rather grimy history of Liverpool, with the rise of its status as a port in the 18th and 19th Centuries, through to the start of the 20th.
To be perfectly honest, this one is most certainly a labour of love as the wealth of material that I have to work with for a Victorian era tale or two (circa 1880 – 90) is abundant – if not crying out for me to inject a few characters and set them amid the torrid affairs of the day.
Right now, most of the scribbled beginnings are in folders – all handwritten – as I indulge my greedy thirst for more historical accuracy and detail.
Maybe I’ll pull my head out of the archives long enough to pen the stories – who knows!! However, I’m having much fun walking around such places as I’m reading about from historical accounts and discovering trace remains of sites where grim deeds occurred.
Watch this space. The Veil will be pulled back soon!
